GINGERBREAD VILLAGE

The concept of Gingerbread Village is to highlight the valuable work of Third Age through its national programmes, to raise much needed funds and to create an event that values the interaction, through craft and fun, of families of all ages.  Intergenerational social engagement, particularly for the benefit of older people is a cornerstone of all Third Age activity.

 

Third Age has hosted very enjoyable and successful Gingerbread competition events in 2014 and 2015 with over 80 entries.

A number of ancillary activities took place throughout each event including face painting, photo booth, children's games, Santa's grotto, Christmas cinema and jewellery making.  A Christmas party atmosphere was created with entrants bringing their families, young and old, to the event free of charge.

For 2016, we're delighted that a number of organisations and craft groups are holding their own Gingerbread Village events with Third Age supplying house kits and information. If you or your organisation, school, craft group or other would like to hold an internal competition in aid of Senior Help Line we would be more than happy to help with the logistics and provide you with sponsorship cards.

 

If you would just like to buy a kit and work on it in your own time that would be great too. Just let us know how many kits you need and we’ll arrange to get them to you.
